Water sheets over the full crest of a masonry dam into a granite gorge, a light service bridge spanning above it and the flat reservoir stretching back to timbered hills.

The same dam twenty-three years after the construction plate beside it, finished and spilling, sold as a postcard. The hand-lettering says what it was for: Source of Denver's Water Supply.

Shows: Cheesman in operation, and that a city's water supply was something you sent to people in the post.

What this does not let you conclude: What it holds today, or who is entitled to it. Denver's system has grown far past this one reservoir. The date is hand-lettered on the card itself, beside the caption.
