Baca County on the afternoon of 14 April 1935 -- Black Sunday, the worst duster of the decade. Colorado's south-east corner is the same ground where the drought committee was inspecting artesian wells a year later.

Shows: What the drought did to the air over Colorado, dated to the day by the photographer.

What this does not let you conclude: Any hydrology. A dust storm is a soil and wind event; the drought ranking beside it is computed from streamflow against a century of the same calendar week. 14 April 1935 -- the day that became known as Black Sunday.
