A hand-coloured lantern slide looking down a finished section of concrete-lined tunnel; a narrow-gauge construction track runs along the floor into darkness toward a single distant light.

Inside the Gunnison Tunnel before water: a finished, concrete-lined reach with the construction railway still on the floor. The tunnel carries the Gunnison River under Vernal Mesa to the Uncompahgre Valley.

Shows: The lining and bore of the tunnel as built, and the scale of the work.

What this does not let you conclude: Flow -- the tunnel is dry here; the gage record beside it shows what it delivers. The National Archives dates the album circa 1903; the tunnel was completed in 1909.
