W.H. Jackson's exposure of the 15th of June 1873, made for the Hayden Survey and titled only "In the snow." Snow still deep in a subalpine forest in the middle of June is the whole of the subject.

Shows: How late Colorado's high-country snow lies, seen by the men who had to travel over it.

What this does not let you conclude: A depth or a water equivalent. Nobody measured this bank; the survey photographed it on the way past, and the snowpack percentages beside it are today's, from SNOTEL telemetry. It also does not show the survey party -- Jackson made a second exposure the same day, of a man and three horses on the snow, and that frame is published separately as usgs-in-the-snow-colorado-1873.
